Dare To Be Joyful!
I found on Pinterest 1000 gifts. What better way to share than on my blog that I have neglected for the past year right? Today is "Unconventional Gifts". I suppose these can range from material gifts to non-material gifts. One of the best unconventional gifts I receive are from my students. The papers they color to the things this make me. They are thoughtful and kind to think of me and deliver such wonderful gifts from the heart. The unconventional gift of a simple note that makes my heart burst from my children that tell me "I Love You Mommy!" We loose these simple acts of gift giving as we grow older and need to remember no matter the age these simple gifts warm the spirit. I think the best one of all is the gift of a smile. How simple and easy it is to give this gift daily to anyone you meet. You never know how much your smile may mean to someone who is struggling just to get through the day. I know that I have had the gift of so many smiles in the classroom with my students. That smile is evidence of their happiness and a smile is contagious!
What are your three unconventional gifts that you have received?

Cover the Grinch with Compliments!
A friend found this idea on pinterest and recommended the idea to me. So, you know me I totally took her up on it! Students are encouraged to take a heart and write a compliment when they witness a kind deed during the holiday season! I can't wait to see how it turns out at the end of December!:)

2011 Christmas Ornaments

Each year the kids and I make ornaments for each set of their grandparents. This year we made snowman handprint ornaments. I searched and searched for a way to embellish them online, but could only find bits and pieces I liked, so I created my own;)
I bought the balls last year on the after Christmas sale. I ised acryilc paint for their hands and paint pens to create the hats, face, scarf, and buttons. I then used a toothpick to create the tiny orange carrot noses:) I had left over glitter scrapbooking paper, so I cut small strips and hot glued them on the hats to give them some dimension. I thought they turned out super cute!!!
