Cover the Grinch with Compliments!
A friend found this idea on pinterest and recommended the idea to me. So, you know me I totally took her up on it! Students are encouraged to take a heart and write a compliment when they witness a kind deed during the holiday season! I can't wait to see how it turns out at the end of December!:)

2011 Christmas Ornaments

Each year the kids and I make ornaments for each set of their grandparents. This year we made snowman handprint ornaments. I searched and searched for a way to embellish them online, but could only find bits and pieces I liked, so I created my own;)
I bought the balls last year on the after Christmas sale. I ised acryilc paint for their hands and paint pens to create the hats, face, scarf, and buttons. I then used a toothpick to create the tiny orange carrot noses:) I had left over glitter scrapbooking paper, so I cut small strips and hot glued them on the hats to give them some dimension. I thought they turned out super cute!!!

Kids Halloween Costume
Our Lil' Spider
This costume was bought and given to us from my mom!!

Our Lil' Bat

I can't take all the credit for creating this costume. I found this idea at http://alphamom.com/family-fun/holidays/do-it-yourself-kids-bat-costume/ I did however change up the mask. They used a paper print out and I created the mask out of the stiff felt, hot glue and an athletic headband. Kyra LOVED her costume and mommy is proud she made it!!

Deanna Rose Farmstead

It's been a LONG time since posted. I've tended to just keep up by facebook page and have neglected this site.:(
We went to Olathe this past weekend to meet friends at the Deanna Rose Farmstead. It was amazing and the kids had so much fun. If you haven't went with your children this is a MUST! The kids saw things that ranged from a one room school house to Indian lodging that was built to 95% authenticity. They bottle fed goats, rode ponies, rode tractor peddles and ran, and ran and played. Above are some of the pictures I took from our day there. Afterwards we went to Ledgend's to shop and eat.
Enjoy the kids' picture below~they do love each other! LOL

Wedding Time

My cousin Charity was married yesterday. Kyra was the flowergirl along with my cousin's son Payton. They did such a wonderful job together. They are just pros! They were together in my cousin Brandon's wedding two years ago too. Aren't they just the cutest things???:)
The wedding was beautiful and I was so happy for my cousin. She asked me to lector, which was the first time I got to do something like that. We usually leave that up to Uncle Doug;) It was a great day for a wedding and enjoy the pictures of little Miss Kyra!:)

Spring Program
Since Kyra's class had four graduates her class got to perform at the preschool graduation. They sang:*Little Red Caboose
*Little Bunny Fufu
*5 Little Monkeys
Here she is with part of her class afterwards:)
She wouldn't give me a regular pose, so I took what I could get! LOL
It was a great time! I love watching all the kids perform, guess that's the teacher in me too. Next year she will graduate and get to wear little mini caps and gowns. They did a wonderful job and I love that she can go to Brilliant Beginnings.

Easter Weekend
What an Easter Weekend! Lots went on in two days. I apologize that pictures are not in chronological order, but you can see the fun the kids had. We spent Easter at the Ryan's sister's house. Lots of great food and fun. Kyra was loving the zip line that they had as you can see from the picture.:)
They had an egg hunt both after mass on Sunday at our church and then one after lunch at Michele's.

Saturday we were in Marysville at my dad's and Carla's for their church's egg hunt. I enjoy theirs because they have about a 20 minute bible lesson on the real meaning of Easter. Again they told the story with Resurrection Egg....very cool!

Oh my my! Kyra has been begging to let me have Grandpa Grund give her a ride on the Harley...the REAL Harley. Dad let her rev the engine and has they took off you could hear Miss Kyra yell "WAHOOOO!". They also got her a bicycle for when she goes to visit them...she had to get use to it, but she's getting better. It has training wheels.

Below Brady Mister Man is checkin out what the Easter Bunny brought them on Easter Morning.
The kids were very happy with the bunny. They did so well at church too. Brady slept through most and Kyra re-confirmed her baptismal vows. You would here the congregation say "I do" with a little "I DO!" after everyone else;)

We still need to head out to see my mom and all in Cawker. Mom always dyes eggs with them and has another egg hunt. Kyra loves it and can't wait to see the "broken" house all fixed!

Tulip Festival
After church Kyra and I headed downtown to the Tulip Festival. Brady and daddy stayed home to nap.:) We ate at the Friendship House where Kyra (below) is showing off her Easter cookie she got. Then we meandered around looking at the crafts and she wanted her face painted. She is a "princess". She was so excited! She and I enjoyed our time together and hopefully this weekend I can get the kids back down to the park to take some more photos with the tulips:)Saturday, April 16, 2011
Fun Weekend
What a fun Saturday we had. Kyra and Brady's cousin's spent the day with us. We did lots of activities. We dyed Easter Eggs and made the above project. We also went in to the Mall to see the Easter Bunny. Brady is deathly afraid of the "whabbit!" I think I have nail marks in my arm from him squeezing me to tightly. I need to scan in their picture so I can post it.
I hid some eggs for the kids to go "hunt", poor Brady was stuck in his bouncer and just got to watch. He amused himself with a plastic egg as you can see. He does act like his dad I believe...just a little silly, but so darn cute.

The was the first year he was able to actually partake in the event of dying eggs!! He did fairly well, considering he had just woken up from a nap.

Needing A Brain Break
I LOVE LOVE this! We have been working so hard in Math and Reading that we had what we call a "Brain Break". I use Pandora on my computer to listen to the radio station I created "Disney" and we were dancing to the Chipmunks. I love to have fun with my kids and I think they enjoy it to...well maybe not MY dancing but hopefully they will take a memory away from being in my class.I have been very proud of my students this year. They have had to overcome construction noise ALL year and we continue to deal with that, a move to a less than desirable classroom and lots and lots of time devoted to learning math and reading skills/strategies. We got the prelim results of their State Assessments and I couldn't be more please with them!!! They are a great group of kids that did very well!

Spring Break 2011 = BUST
The start of break started great! The week before was so beautiful that we played outside. It gave me an opportunity to capture some really great moments with the kids. I will cherish the one of them on the swing because I was able to catch how happy our family is. I have my three favorite people in my life and my heart is full of joy!
Look at my handsome man and beautiful girl! God has so blessed me with wonderful children. There are days that my hair is frazzled and I feel like I've aged 20 year, but nothing could bring me greater happiness than these two adorable faces.
The kids and I headed out to Cawker for the start of break with the agenda of us staying for awhile, however.....Sunday after my cousin's bridal shower Brady woke up with a 102.8 fever. I waited and called the Dr. Monday morning and they wanted us to come in to check. Brady had a bilateral ear infection on the 7th that went into his eye, so we had went BACK in on the 18th to see the Dr. because he failed two hearing screenings. (On that note, we have to wait 4-6 weeks and screen him again). By the time we got to the Dr. on Monday his fever was 103.2 with medication. His ear infection came back and the Dr. said he probably had a viral infection on top of that. He just was raidiating heat Monday night and part of Tuesday. His fever broke on Wednesday and a rash appeared head to toe. I was pretty sure it was Roseola, but called the Dr. since he hadn't had the new medicine before. They wanted to see him AGAIN just to confirm the Roseola case...we have to go BACK on the 1st to make sure that his meds cleared up his ear infection. He was one sick kiddo, but I'm glad he is better and starting to ear more and wanting to play again.
Kyra on the other hand had a blast at her Grandma/Grandpa Green's. She stayed there the whole week and galavanted around with them to Salina and Hanover. I don't think she missed mom and dad too much (well until she got home and saw us!) She did miss Brady I was told. She even went down to Emporia with her Grandma/Grandpa Olberding to her cousin's for a birthday party and had a blast down there. She was disappointed she couldn't spend the night:(
I did spend some time making a diaper cake, burpers and my first attempt at a tag blankie for Ryan's classmate's new addition. They had a beautiful little girl!!!!
So our break was eventful, just not enjoyable....not for me anyways. Looking forward to warmer weather so we can get back outside.
