Great Uncle Kenny

******2nd UPDATE: We have found that his heart is producing an irregular heartbeat. We are waiting for doctor.******
******Update: After his last trip to Lincoln, the test showed little blockage and are thinking diet and stress as the cause. He has been resting and getting better!!! Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. We are so lucky to have such a special Uncle in our family. ******

This past Wednesday I could not get ahold of my Great Uncle and became worried. My mom finally got ahold of him and thought he was acting different and told him to go to the Dr. I talked to him right after my mom did and he did sound very tired and like her couldn't connect some of this thoughts. My Uncle Doug came from work to take him downtown to the Dr. and they then sent him to Beatrice for some studies. He had a CT Scan the next day and we found that he had had 3 TIA's (mini-strokes). He will be going to Lincoln for some more cardiac tests to find what is causing this. Please keep him in your prayers!

We went to visit Kenny this weekend (July 26-27). He seems to be doing fairly well. We will be going back to Lincoln on Tuesday for some more tests. I'm traveling back up to Hanover tomorrow to go with him. While we were there this weekend Kyra and I went to the park by the pool that is right by Kenny's house and my old house. We had lots of fun. Kyra climbed all the way up to the slide and probably do this for hours if I let her. We had a rough night. I think Kyra has a nightmare and we did some bed switching which basically consisted of Kyra and I getting Uncle Kenny's bed and the urging of Uncle Kenny. Kyra probably got more sleep than I did, but still not enough because she has been going crazy today due to lack of sleep. Needless to say she went to bed a 7:00 pm tonight.

Time With Her Auntie Freedom

Kyra's Aunt Freedom came and stayed for a couple of days. Kyra and Freedom had loads of fun. Here Kyra is brushing Freedom's hair and giving her a big kiss!! I think it is neat because age wise Freedom is the same difference with Kyra as I am with her!! So when Freedom was Kyra's age...I was Freedom's age!

Our Little Climbing Monkey

Yesterday evening Kyra was put down for a nap because we went swimming and she was pooped out. A little while later I heard blocks knocking coming from her room. She had reached over and gotten some toys from a shelf close to her bed. No problem she just sat in her bed and played with her blocks. About 10 minutes later Ryan walked by her room and said "Holly you need to come see this." About that time little Miss Kyra walked out of her room. Now remember she was IN her bed before and no one had gotten her out. She had scaled the crib to get out. She came running to me with a huge smile and I said "Kyra how did you get out? Come show mommy." So we went back to her room and sure enough showed me how she got out.;) LOL I tried to get her again, but this is about half of the little monkey's scaling adventure.

Swimming

Kyra, Ryan and I went to the Wamego Pool with Ryan's parents, sister and her two boys today. I wish I would have had my camera. (Am a little scared to take my digital there as you can imagine.) Kyra so loves the water! She has NO FEAR what so ever! She didn't like her "baby" floaty and wanted the boys' water ring. She got right in and held herself up quite well all by herself. She was going under (with our help of blowing on her) and putting her face in the water all by herself. We would hold her on her belly and she would move her arms and legs like she was swimming. The biggest thing we learned was "jumping" off the side. Once she learned this there was NO holding her back! We had a great time and she is turning into a little walnut because her she tans like her daddy!:)

Special Time With Daddy!!

Kyra has always loved books from the moment she could pick one up. She could spend HOURS at her bookshelf in her room and "read":) She actually never really liked board books, she would rather have REAL books with REAL pages to turn. Maybe this is because her fine motor skills are so advanced she liked the challenge. She is like her daddy and enjoy challenges. Nothing fun if it's boring and she can do it in one try!:)
Her Great Great Uncle Kenny bought her a new Curious George book that she brought daddy to read to her. They are so cute sitting in the big chair reading Curious George;) She is now at an age where we can read books and she will sit still long enough to listen. Reading time has always been enjoyable but even more so now;)

Quick Trip

Kyra and I took a quick trip to St. Benedict to see Papa Jr/Grandma Betty/Aunt Monica and Cousins Kaitlyn & Brooklyn. We went swimming at the new swimming pool at Seneca. We had a blast! Before we went to pool with stopped at the hospital to see the grandparents at work. Everyone was happy to see the little girls who we care Miss America, Miss Universe and Miss USA...LOL or as Grandpa refers them as "Bert's Beauties". We ate our dinner at Bern, Ks at the new park they have. It is an amazing park that is designed to look like a castle. The girls had so much fun there.
She and her little cousin Brooklyn were so cute on the swings. They are going to be the best of friends. Kyra is only 6 months older so they get along very well.Kyra in the barn part of the playground. She liked this little room...however I think it was because she was trying to "hide' to go to the bathroom.
We were practicing our dance moves the Uncle Gerard's wedding. To see these little girls dance was the best thing! It is amazing how well they were dancing together and how well they were working together! Sweet Sweet Girls!
We had lots of fun but had to come home. Kyra did go to her first "viewing" of a body today because one of our good friend's mother passed away on Sunday. We went to give our condolences. Of course she really didn't know what was going on which was fine by me. Then we headed home! Daddy was very happy to hear that we are probably done traveling for a little while since he hasn't really seen us for awhile;) We missed daddy too!

Royals Weekend:)

Ryan and I left early Saturday morning for Kansas City and went to Legends and some shopping. Bought some new running shoes and ate a STIX. What was to be a "romantic" day of shopping was dampered by some annoying rain. We'll try it again someday with better weather..LOL. After we left Legends we went to Olathe to our friend Scott's house to meet up with him and some other friends (Ryan & Cindy) to head over to the Royals game. Scott met the President of the Royals (I believe Dan Glass) at a wedding and Mr. Glass gave Scott his card if Scott ever wanted tickets. Scott called and we got some great seats! Right behind Homeplate Row D...two rows behind the Crown Royal seats. THANK YOU SCOTT!!! The game was great! The Royals took a 3-0 lead at the top of the 3rd, but somewhere in the middle of the game Seattle had took the lead by 1. It was the bottom of the 9th, Royals with 2 outs with one man walked to first. DeJesus came to the plate and hit a walk off home;) ROYALS WIN!!!! Awesome ending! We stayed in the parking lot for awhile and saw quite of few people that we knew at the game. That was nice to see some old friends.:) After we left we went to Kite's which use to be the old Rusty's in KC with our friends and well, since we are getting older we called it at night about midnight and stayed the night in Olathe. We came home today around 11:30 a.m. Great weekend and a nice quick get away for us;)

This is what I came home to after my bike ride the other night. Kyra loves animals and was playing "horse" with daddy, but guess who was in charge:)

Dancing Queen

As I posted before, Kyra loved dancing. I got a short video clip of her "hour" of dancing. If she can't make you smile I don't know what will:) So sweet!

My Dad's Reception @ Marysville

My dad a wedding reception at Marysville July 5th at the Legion. It was great to see everyone again. Heather brought her boyfriend Todd who Kyra fell in love with...I'm however beginning to see a trend with any male figure and Kyra:) LOL No, she and Todd got along very well. Todd is a sweetheart and am glad that I got to meet him! We spent the day at Uncle Kenny's until it was time to go over to the reception. Ryan was unable to make it because he was in Kansas City for a another wedding of a very good friend of ours. I was able to see lots of people and pretty much the same comment came up again and again "Holly you don't remember me but.....when you were little...." I saw some of my cousins that I haven't seen in years! Kyra was the bell of the ball at the dance. She danced and danced and danced! She danced for a hour solid with her grandpa peeling her off the dance floor. She was a dancin' machine! Little Cinderella had to come home at 10:20 pm because I couldn't keep up with her in 3 inch heels and on my own with out daddy! LOL!

4th of July

What an exciting day we had! We met friends (Crystal/Nick and Jill/Derek/Raychel)in early in the afternoon and ate downtown. Our friends headed to the car show and we headed to the carnival for Kyra's first ride. Yeah, Kyra got to ride the carousel twice and ONLY twice. One darn ticket was $3.00 BUCKS a POP! Kyra rode once with mom and once with dad. She really did enjoy the ride, just not the ride next to us:) We decided for however old she is that's how many rides she gets..so 1 year = 1 ride;) Before we met up again with our friends we watched the parade with Ryan's parents. It's so fun with Kyra now that she can walk and catch "candy". There was a sweet little girl that was helping Kyra out...it was very sweet. The parade was ok, I think last years was a little better however. After we had a BBQ with friends and we headed down to the grounds that held the fireworks.

Kyra LOVED this show even more than the show in Hanover only because I think she knew what to expect. She was jumping up and down on Ryan trying the "catch" the fireworks. We had a great seat...almost too great because firework embers were dropping only about 200 yds away. The fireworks were great and we can't wait until next year!

First Ouchy!

Last Sunday we all walked up to the Wamego track as a family. Ryan and Kyra were playing while I did my workout. I didn't get my 3 miles in, but but about 1.5. Kyra fell and scraped up her knee. Ryan said that she caught her sandal on the track and tumbled, but got right back up and didn't notice it. However, a couple of minutes later she started to hold her leg out because it started stinging and then the BLOOD came. Once she saw that we had terrible cries. The workout was cut short and we hurried home to clean up her knee and bandage it all up. She was so cute because when you said "Kyra where's your ouchy?", she would hold out her leg and want you to kiss it! The bandage stayed on for about a day and then we took it off so that it could scab over. She's a pretty tough kiddo. She still wants you to kiss her "ouchy":)
