KSU vs. UNT

GO CATS!
Yesterday was the season opener for the K-State Wildcats! Ryan and I are so excited for the football season! We love the WILDCATS! We met friends at Kite's (New establishment on HWY 24) at noon for some drinks and snacks!:) It was great to see our old friends and are planning on meeting there again at noon next weekend! We then headed over to meet my dad and Carla to go to the game and tailgate. We set up camp and had some really great food!! Next week I'm gonna make Carla catch football with me;) WINK WINK!!! We headed into the game around 5:30 and I was so excited...clapping, doing the Wabash when the girl next to me puked! YUCK...I told Ryan "She needs to get student tickets and throw up over there!" We have decent seats, Section 9 Row 19...I really like them. Back to the sick girl...so they left which gave us more room...and the KSU guys came and cleaned up the mess, so over all not terrible. Got to see Terance Newman again as he was inducted into the Ring of Honor!:)We were happy with the performance the CATS gave, but we still have a lot of work to do. I loved seeing complete passes though!!!! I feel like there is a different chemistry out on the field and leadership..things we have been missing. Of course we won...not a Big 12 win...but it's a win and I'll take it.

Purple Power Play

Kyra with the KSU Cheerleaders! They were making a bee line outta there and stopped dead in their tracks when I asked if we could get a picture. They were like "OH MY BABY!!! YES, OF COURSE!"

Edited picture of my not so baby sister anymore:) Aren't we cute!!!!! Then below is the bee that Kyra met along with the yucky snake!

Kyra, Ryan and I met our friends Nick & Crystal along with my mom and Freedom at the mall. The Olberding family took their annual picture with Willie the Wildcat before heading onto Poyntz to grab a bite to eat. While Ryan and I were sitting visiting with our friends mom and Freedom took Kyra out to walk and see what was on Poyntz. She got to pet a snake (YUCK) and see a bee!!:) She loved the Pep Rally and was so cute waving at Willie on stage! I've added some of the pictures to our flickr.com site, but not all...I was running out of space and didn't want to take the time to change the size of the pictures:) LOL Kyra got to meet Shaylee Lehning, K-State's Women's Point Gaurd while getting her picture taken with both the Classy Cats and Cheerleaders. We are going to try to get pictures with the cheerleaders every year if we can. I compared the picture from last year and was so shocked to see how much she has grown up!!! We had a really great time! I also can't wait to get the picture with Willie back!! Hopefully it's good!

Big Girl Bed!!!

Daddy is converting her crib to her big girl bed. Kyra decided to come in and check it out.
We decided that after we found her with her foot caught in the slats during nap time that it was time to start getting her ready for a big girl bed.
Here is little Miss Kyra laying in her big girl bed for the very first time last night. Last night we had a little issue of getting out of bed for quite some time. Mommy decided to lay with her in the BIG BIG bed until she fell asleep and then transferred her to her little bed. She stayed put until around 3:00 a.m. and found mommy again. She laid in bed for about 20 minutes before getting shuttled back into her bed where she stayed until morning.
Tonight we did tough love. We put her to bed and shut the door. She screamed and hollered for about 10 minutes with some pauses in between to see if we would come to her rescue. When she realized that we weren't all of a sudden it was silent and when we peeked in she had put herself to bed. I was so proud of my little girl. Killed me to listen to her, but I was afraid that that was what needed to happen. Hopefully she will sleep through the night and tomorrow will go like this or better!
UPDATE @ 9:20 p.m. We heard a cry then it was quiet then "THUD" we had a faller! She fell, didn't cry and was trying to get back up in bed. She just gives me smiles no matter what! Bless her heart for trying to get back to bed!
UPDATE @ 3:45 a.m. No I am not awake but at this time Kyra quietly found me in my room and got up, but on the bright note it was 45 minutes LATER than the night before. Then at 6:00 a.m. another "THUD" happened. What a way to wake up huh? Hello world here I am!
UPDATE 8.26.08 So she went to bed without a fuss, a peep, a cry, a fit. She came a gave me a kissy and hug while batting her eyes and went with daddy to have him tuck her in. That was about 30 minutes ago and still no sound;) Is it truly that easy to transition to a big girl bed? Hopefully we will only have one wake up tonight and if we have big hopes she will sleep all night!:)
UPDATE 8.27.08 WOW Kyra stayed in her big girl bed ALL night long and even got herself up this morning to get ready!! My baby is growing up:(
UPDATE 8.28.08 We are so lucky that last night went as well as the night before!! I had to teach at Highland last night so I wasn't there when she went to bed, but Ryan told me that when he said it was time to go to bed she came looking for me so she could give me a kiss...awe:)

Rattlebone Rock

Kyra's Grandma Green bought her "Rattlebone Rock" by Sylvia Andrews last year for Halloween. Halloween is not my favorite holiday, but I do like the candy! My mom LOVES Halloween and we call it her Christmas! It was only fitting that Kyra get a Halloween book from Grandma Na'. This however really is an awesome book. The book is written with rhythmic sound which resembles jazz music. Kyra will dig in her bookshelf until she finds it and will bring it out to anyone who reads. One weekend I read it to her, then immediately following finding Freedom to have it read once more, THEN finding Grandma to read it AGAIN! Tonight as you can see from the picture she grabbed her favorite book and plopped down in the kitchen and was "reading" her book. She will even tap my leg as we read to try and keep rhythm. If I have enough guts maybe I'll video a segment of me reading the book!!

As you can see from the picture I love using Photoshop CS3 and the program Picnik (it's FREE-we like free!) on Facebook to edit my photos. I'm about done with my trial of photoshop and am debating on what I will do to get another free trial!:) LOL

First Day Of School For Mommy

Today was the first day of school! We had a 1/2 day and spent most of the time discussing rules and procedures. This is what my room looked like a week and 1/2 ago! I couldn't really do much all summer because technology was housed in my room all summer, so I have been frantically trying to get my room in order. Then we come and see what it was finally last night for our back-to-school night! I'll post some other pictures on flickr for you teachers in the family!:)
I've been teaching at Northview for 4 years now! WOW! I have now been here long enough that I have three returning families! It's a really great feeling to have that sense of belonging and that families know what kind of teacher you are. Below is my class for this year. I have 19 kiddos so far and suspect that there will be more coming as the year progresses. I have a couple of kids that were our 2nd grade book buddies my very first year here! It's really very neat!

Getting Ready To See Her Todd!

Heather and Todd called early this morning to say they were stopping by for a visit. Kyra loves Todd and had to get beautiful to see her boy!:) She needed to find a beautiful outfit and put her "make-up" on!
Then we had to practice our running to see Todd. However we were little shy, but didn't take to long to warm up.
Ready to see Todd!
They were getting ready to leave and Kyra was dishing out kisses and hugs!
Until next time!

Baseball

Today was Kyra's first time playing BASEBALL!! She did a great job and we spent about 30-45 minutes outside playing JUST baseball.

She tried putting the glove on by herself. Did fairly well, it just was on the wrong hand!:)

Her very FIRST catch!

Kyra's Photo Shoot

Kyra and I tried a photo shoot today. It went ok. We had some better outside shots. I also downloaded a free trial of Photoshop CS3 and edited the above and below picture. I wish I had the money to purchase the program, but it's like $600.00.
I'm so cool!
Now is that a model pose?
Such and investigator!

What a girl!

The other evening I went and took a nap. When I awoke I saw this cute little girl sitting in the living room with a CHOCOLATE MILKSHAKE! Apparently after a discussion with dad, they decided to go downtown to get some ice cream. I couldn't believe that she was allowed in the living room with food, but she was being very good and didn't spill anything.
This morning she was sitting on my lap and wanted to get off. I let her down and all of sudden she started throwing this huge fit and was about to hit my leg when I said "Do you need a time out?" She immediately said "YES!" and went straight to her corner. She stayed there for a couple of seconds and then came back and gave me a big kiss!:) She was too cute to not photograph!

Saturday Fun

This morning we got up and after breakfast we had a little art session. She loves her PIP SQUEAK markers and we decided to color some masks. This one is her final project. I love the picture with just her hands at work. She decided that my mask needed some extra work..LOL.

"Kyra @ 21 months"

Here is little miss with me right before we left to go downtown to the Columbian to watch the children's production of Willy Wonka. She did such a nice job. We only had to leave one time for

her to go run and that only lasted for under 5 min. She loved the Oompa-Loompas and their songs. At one point she was dancing so crazily I thought I might as well throw her up there with the rest of them. She was putting on quite the show in our row. My friend Crystal and I were just laughing and laughing.

We also went swimming today and every time we go she learns something new. Today she learned how to go under herself except she still needs us to pull her back up. She's getting better at jumping off the side to us and floating in her "Nemo" ring. As with every swimming outing she just gets darker and darker.;) Maybe we'll go again tomorrow!

Cleaning Corn

Since Kyra has a new found taste for corn on the cob, Uncle Kenny sent home with us a bag of sweet corn. We had some friends over tonight for a BBQ and decided that corn on the cob sounded yummy!
We are at a good stage to learn how to "help" out around the house. She had helped mommy make coleslaw and then helped daddy clean the corn. She didn't get any surprises in the corn, but I'm sure than will come upcoming years:) She did NOT like the silk. I think it was too sticky!
